Fight the Power!

Time is truly wasting…There’s no guarantee…. Probably the best set of words I ever heard. There probably the truest words I have ever heard as well.  Is it a coincidence that randomly one Saturday night this cd would magically appear on a department store shelf. In any event this song has become our theme song throughout this whole adventure, taking on the Michael Jackson stone carvings has been quite a blast. The project is nearing completion and final pictures will be up soon. It’s going to be real exciting, I can tell you this. They are looking great. In the meantime kick back, relax, pop open a six pack, and cruise to the tunes. IF YOUR GONNA DO IT, DO IT RIGHT!

Being an artist, most of my day is filled with all things creative. Even when I have time for myself I tend to venture off and gander at websites related to design. As a graphic arts major I have an appreciation for the time and energy it takes to create amazing pieces of digital art. The amount of patience needed to pull off some of these techniques is utterly remarkable. Layer upon layer builds up the elements necessary to complete the final image.

One of the sites I often frequent is PSDTuts. They have such an awesome selection of tutorials, articles, and even designer resources. Check out this article on the 100 Artworks From the Top Digital Artists in the US and Canada. Here you will find a cool compilation of some really neat artwork created for multiple commercial uses. The artists in this article really show off their talent. And for the designers its a great way to get inspired.

Healthy Lifestyle Suggestions

People are often products of our environments. Whatever habits we have now are what we have usually picked up as a child. Our parents set the standard for us as kids at an early age when it comes to our nutritional habits. If people had more knowledge about nutrition and how to lead a healthy lifestyle we wouldn’t  have the problem we have today with obesity starting already at the age of five in our society. Knowledge is power and to have the power to make the right choices based upon your knowledge is what makes the differences in people’s life. To make healthy choices it gives you a powerful strong feeling. YOU are in control of your own lifestyle. Don’t be a victim to our environment.

Suggestions

  1. Educate family and close friends
    Learn how to cook healthy meals. The more knowledge you have as adult you are able to spread that knowledge to your loved ones and dear friends. Clean out your kitchen that has foods you know that isn’t well for you. Also when you go to the grocery store make sure you go there not hungry, so you can avoid these high calorie treats.
  2. Back to Basics
    If you really want to get the ball rolling, just start off by taking a walk around your neighborhood for about 20 minutes after you ate a meal. Also there is another benefit from walking after a meal; it enables you to clear your mind.
  3. Keep yourself motivated
    Changing your lifestyle takes discipline, motivation, and will power. The sooner you pick up all these traits, the sooner you will accomplish your goals to becoming healthy. For example, jot down a few notes around your house reminding you that you have the key steps for a happier and healthier lifestyle.

StudioSixFive

StudioSixFive is a collaboration between two artists who also are close friends. The dream came one day when the question “What do you really want?” was asked. Both friends agreed on the answer “Freedom!”. But what does that word really mean? What is freedom? This was a personal quest the two were set out to conquer. Expression of ones true self was key. That’s what art really was, so they thought.
